Restaurants in Blantyre Malawi

Mijn Kitchen: I love coming here early afternoon for lunch and soaking in the sun. I usually get a burger and broccoli salad. Followed by dessert or a milkshake. Its a good place to just people watch. Folks come here for business lunches, family time, casual reading, and just to lounge in one of the nicest gardens in Blantyre. Not an extensive menu but everything is prepared with A1 service. Average cost per person $15-20 or 15,000 kwacha Kris Star Lodge: I enjoy coming to Kris Star because its the closest place to my house but it also offers a … Continue reading Restaurants in Blantyre Malawi

Malawi Game Reserves & Parks

*Please note that the rainy season in Malawi is from December/January thru April. I would highly recommend going to any of the mentioned places outside of that timeframe to maximize probability of seeing wildlife. Majete: This was my first time going to a game reserve. The only other time I have seen wild animals has been in a zoo. This Game Reserve is run by the African Parks Network which have done an exemplinary job of revitalizing the parks in Malawi. Majete is about an hour drive from Blantyre, mostly down mountain into Chikwawa District. It is considerably hotter in … Continue reading Malawi Game Reserves & Parks

Nanchengwa Lodge: Mangochi Malawi

Date: April 5-7 2018 ($202 A-frame including food and drinks) Location: Mangochi Malawi I took a weekend trip with the homie Horris to Mangochi. Its about a 3 hour drive from Blantyre. The drive and beach are better than Cape Maclear and rivals Salima. Originally we were suppose to be going with a group but you know how us people can when it comes with the follow through… Fortunately, it didn’t shift the plans. We were one of the only people there. It was too quiet for us. So after the breakfast we ended up roaming around the town and … Continue reading Nanchengwa Lodge: Mangochi Malawi

It wasn’t a hard choice cause everyone who stays here seems to love it and it is 2 miles from where I already stay. We had a … Continue reading Leslie Lodge Bed & Breakfast: Blantyre Malawi

Kena Boutique Hotel: Zanibar Tanzania

Dates: July 5-7 2019 ( $410 All inclusive + off menu items + massage) Location: Matemwe Zanzibar  I really just wanted to pick a different location other than Jambiani for my next visit. Ive spoiled myself by returning to the same location every visit so switching it up to see the other beaches and beauty of the island was the goal this time. Excluding the cost of the flight, my budget was $400 for a weekend. I had done a little bit of searching online for hotel deals and Kena was about 4 or 5th on my list. Then I … Continue reading Kena Boutique Hotel: Zanibar Tanzania

Chemka Hot springs: Moshi Tanzania

After doing Materuni Falls earlier in the day we drove from there to Chemka. The road to get there is desolate. We drove by a bunch of dry lands, mangled railway tracks, and several dozen goats the hour and a half of driving. But once we got there it just felt like this oasis that only me and about 20 other people in the world knew anything about. This was the one part of the trip I wish I was doing with someone else. It was just too cool of a place for me to experience alone. The geothermal springs … Continue reading Chemka Hot springs: Moshi Tanzania

Materuni Waterfalls: Moshi Tanzania

The hostess at my hotel recommended this site to me. I didn’t know anything about it prior. Going to the waterfalls was the first part of my day tour. We headed off at around 8 AM from the hotel in Moshi and were parked and checking in at the office prior to the hike. The hike itself took about 35 minutes with one stop for bananas along the way. Nothing strenuous about the hike at all, for most able body people it can be done in less than an hour… Run off from Mt. Kilimanjaro, the water is refreshingly cold. … Continue reading Materuni Waterfalls: Moshi Tanzania

Garden Beach Bungalows: Zanzibar

Dates: December 27th-29th 2018 ($349 Chalet) Location: Jambiani Zanzibar I knew I wanted to go back to Jambiani but I didn’t want to repeat my experience at “The Loop”. My partner and I both loved staying in Chalet style lodging when we traveled in Ghana so we wanted to try it out again. Our room was so much bigger than I expected. Ample space for two people, our room could have comfortably fit 2 more additional people. The property is located practically on the beach and is away from normal foot traffic but close enough to other locations to not … Continue reading Garden Beach Bungalows: Zanzibar

Upepo Garden: Dar es Salaam Tanzania

Don’t let this jade your experience of what you think Upepo has to offer. This place is a slice of paradise in a very busy city. My partner and I stayed at this beautiful beach front boutique hotel for 2 nights. This is a hotel best suited for couples and solo travelers will … Continue reading Upepo Garden: Dar es Salaam Tanzania

Dates: September 7-10th 2018 ($203 Single Room) Location: Kawe Beach, Dar es Salaam Tanzania The grounds of Mediterraneo are amazing. Mizingani Seafront Hotel: Zanzibar

Dates: December 26th-27th 2018 ($111 Single Room) Location: Zanzibar City Zanzibar We spent one night here before departing for Jambiani the following day. We had a double room on the third floor with a balcony view looking down at the pool. The day we got there was ridiculously humid so thank goodness the A/C in the room was fully functional. Located in the heart of Stone Town, less than 100 meters from the sea, near plenty of restaurants and shops, this place is perfect base for your first few days in Zanzibar. Pros: Location, Breakfast, Wifi, Pool, Location, Elevator Cons: … Continue reading Mizingani Seafront Hotel: Zanzibar
